Visit Coothongkul is a petroleum and geothermal geologist with over 45 years of experience in subsurface evaluation, geothermal power, and petroleum systems, spanning geothermal power plants, district cooling, groundwater supply, and oil & gas development — bridging traditional energy with the demands of the clean transition. He holds [degree/field/institution/year] and a Postgraduate Diploma in Geothermal Energy from the Geothermal Institute, University of Auckland, New Zealand [year].

He began his career at the Department of Mineral Resources, Groundwater Division (1979) and the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT, 1980–1987) as a geophysicist and field geologist, contributing to integrated geophysical surveys at the San Kamphaeng geothermal project and to the development of Southeast Asia's first binary-cycle geothermal power plant at the Fang project — working alongside domestic and international partners including the Department of Mineral Resources (DMR), Defense Energy Department (DED), National Energy Administration (NEA), Chiang Mai University (CMU), as well as BRGM (France), JICA (Japan), and UNDP.

Across more than 25 years in petroleum exploration and production, he held senior positions at Unocal Thailand and Unocal Corp (USA), working on the development of the Erawan, Pailin, and Funan fields and establishing systematic reserves-evaluation methodologies. At PTTEP, he served as an executive across numerous domestic and international projects, including General Manager of Oman Assets (developing the Shams field), Senior Manager of Myanmar Assets (Yadana and Yetagun projects), and Vice President of the Andaman and Isan exploration projects — as well as Southeast Asian business development that secured Block M-9, home to the Zawtika field.

In the energy and mining sector, he served as Vice President of the Coal Business at PTT Energy Resources and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Sakari Resources in Indonesia, a PTT subsidiary, playing a pivotal role in the company's turnaround and corporate restructuring. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of Right Tunnelling Public Company Limited.

Today, he serves as Founder and Chief Executive Officer of RT Geothermal and the driving force behind Asiageothermal, collaborating with government, universities, and international partners to unlock Thailand's geothermal and water potential — with a vision of delivering 24/7 carbon-free power, cooling, and water systems for the cities, industries, and data centers of the future.
